School Assemblies
|
Lighthouse offers a free service by providing assemblies in line with the Government guidelines for collective worship in schools. The assemblies are of a Christian nature, but with sensitivity to the needs of multi-cultural schools. We generally follow the SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) themes in primary schools which is an element of the Behaviour and Attendance strand of the Primary National Strategy - their are five broad social and emotional aspects of learning in the Excellence and Enjoyment document: Self Awareness, Managing Feelings, Motivation, Empathy and Social Skills. These encourage children to learn skills that will help them be effective and successful. in all aspects of their life.
In secondary schools, we help to support a school to meet their SMSC statutory requirements, ensuring a daily act of worship - we following themes which reflect needs in society, national and world events, celebrations and individuals that have made an impact in in society, for example. We work with themes that have been set by the school for the year and which further underpin important values in society.
