Members of the Lighthouse Trust visit our school regularly to take assemblies, work with class and year groups as well as individuals to encourage the children to develop an awareness of themselves and how they can contribute to the world. Children are encouraged to express their feelings about each other and themselves in many different ways – through music, drama and small group work. Lighthouse Trust is an essential source of inspiration and support for our school and the pupils here, and I fully support this project in helping to promote and encourage young people to develop their skills and talents.

I am a teacher at Mereway Community College (name changed to Abbeyfield School, September 2008) who was privileged to be asked by a former student to bring his Citizenship Roadshow 2008 workshops to our college. I, along with Deb Thompson, Arts Director, were sold within 5 minutes.
Lighthouse Trust were straight to the point, positive, motivated and so full of wanting to improve the lives of young people – we signed up. The workshops were amazing. They were professional, the pace was excellent. They touched on so many issues it was like having PCSHE delivered on one day. The students were singing, cheering, rapping. They were motivated, challenged, moved, communicating, talking and asking – learning, supporting, sharing ideas, philosophizing, imagining and creating a better world.
My teaching group took part in Period 2 and they were so excited. I promised that they could follow up the ideas in the next lesson and I was amazed at the response. The work was thought provoking, imaginative, creative and pushed the boundaries. All too often our young people are constrained, bullied, and knocked down. After the Lighthouse workshop they were enthused and wanting to belong to and lead their communities. I met a parent at the weekend who said her daughter had never talked so much about what they as parents should be doing to promote a “better” community. Hats off to you guys. It was a delight, and experience, a joy and unforgettable.

Thank you very much for the assemblies last week. I heard and had some great comments from both the students and staff. We look forward to working with you again in March.” Thank you very much for your assembly today on ‘Celebrating our Achievements’ - and in advance for the rest of this week! It was really interesting and a delight to be present”

It has been a privilege to follow the development and progress of the Lighthouse Trust since its inception in 1997. It was formed out of the vision and passion that the founder, Richard Kinning, has for the moral and spiritual well-being of young people. The impact of this Trust on the lives of many thousands of youngsters is impossible to quantify but it is extremely significant. Presenting young people with practical, personal help as they face the very real challenges of a changing society, requires extraordinary talents and gifts, and Richard and his team have proven that they possess such skills.

Art of Research chooses to actively support Lighthouse Trust (Northampton) as we recognise if you introduce the right values in children today, those values will remain throughout their lives. If we want to see our future generation play an active role in our business community, we have to play an active role in their lives today. Lighthouse Trust is in a privileged position to affect that change and Art of Research will endeavour to do everything it can to support this great work"
